Weeks 35-36 - US Open (hard) - mixed doubles

Another unlucky draw for poor Dom! disbelief

R1:  Katarina Srebotnik (SLO) & Dom Inglot CR 50 (11+39) vs (7) Raquel Kops-Jones & Raven Klaasen (USA/RSA) CR 43 (17+26)  bleh

Unlucky draw, but they might still win R1 and go on to do well.

But I continue to not really take mixed doubles seriously at this level ( and the Olympics mixed is a joke ) with such stuff as etiquette as to how hard big serving guys serve at the ladies.

I don;t even think it's an unlucky draw at all.

CR 50 and CR 43 are pretty much the same. Dom's team have the highest ranked player (the woman, who is often - although by no means always - the weaker link).

I reckon Raquel and Raven have more right to be miffed with the draw - they're seeded 7th but end up drawn next to a pair basically as good.

CD, you definitely have a point.  I have to confess that I didn't compare the CRs at all as I typed the post.  I just took in the unseeded pair against the seeded pair!

Oops! Didn't realise that a thread had been opened for the mixed doubles but not for the Women's Doubles. I know for next time!

But take the second by 6-2 to force an MTB.

And were I Spears and Lipsky, I would definitely be miffed that my (ALT) draw happened to consist of two people who have multiple mixed GSs between them (all right, most of them are on the Raymond side .... but it sounds better that way).

Oh, so they are playing MTB deciders in the mixed ( good result though ! ). Are they at least playing "proper" games or playing No Ad ?

They play no ad, man has to serve to man and woman to woman.

So glad for Lisa in her final event. Proper doubles legend. So disrespectful she didn't get a wild card.
