EDIT: My app wasn't quite as efficient as usual...

Both Joel Cannell and Mehdi Naqvi safely navigated the QD - having said that, all they had to do was enjoy a BYE in QR1 and then qualify.

Brad, I think you might have mis-read the draw. The ITF page has Joel and Mehdi as being directly into the MD because they have byes in Q R 1 and there is no Q R 2. (Babanne and Papc are also directly through)

And in the main draw, Joel and Mehdi get drawn against each other !

Which is always a bit of a shame but, on an objective basis, is actually a very good draw for both of them.

Mehdi's got a play in the doubles, too.

Hardly a surprising result and a respectable effort from Joel against the top seed. More importantly, a lot more experience gained this week and another point in the bag.
