Big congrats to Jordanne Whiley who won her first Grand Slam singles title

Lovely picture of her, and article, including GB men's doubles success too, with Gordon Reid:

Fantastic!
Quite a topsy-turvy tournament, as, after winning all those doubles GS together, Jordanne and Yui didn't win a match in the doubles this time.
They both made it to the singles final though, and had to square off for the title.

Well done Jordanne

Hurrah indeed. The first singles (non-Quad) wheelchair GS championship for any Briton, male or female, as far as I can make out. Well done to her!

(NB: I may have counted incorrectly, but I think that the Dutch women have won 67 out of the 75 women's GS wheelchair singles. That's quite a record.)

Just to say that I went onto the WTA site - something I rarely do, as I really don't like it - to check Ms Broady's results ... and if you go onto the players page, the top gives you four featured players: Ms Vinci, Ms Azarenka, Ms Mladenovic ... and Ms Konta.

So, Eugenie Bouchard has brought a law suit for unspecified damages against the USTA for the fall she suffered at the US Open:

Eugenie obviously sustained a nasty allegedly avoidable injury Hence the suit but also fascinating in that whiplash injuries often don't improve until compensation is agreed. It will be interesting to see how low her ranking goes, obviously the lower it goes the greater any potential settlement! A motivational challenge so to speak. I can see this story line featuring on "suits" if it hasn't already.
