Will a win put Jo as GB No 1?

 Deservedly so.

Actually not quite :

Heather 925, Jo 908

Just have to beat Petra then

Ah!! Just a bit delayed then. She will beat Petra

According to the Eu rankings site Jo is only 2 places and 17 points behind Hev. WR 58.
Well done Jo.

Looking forward its going to be a very tough match, Kvitova has been playing brilliantly and if she continues in that manner then I can't see Konta beating her. However Kvitova's game is high risk and she has in the past thrown in some error strewn performances so we have to hope she does that on Monday.

Well, I definitely can see Ms Konta beating Kvitova if she keeps playing the way she has been playing - nerveless.

I would not exactly describe her as nerveless. When she broke Petkovic in the first set and then tried to hold on to her serve she did had a hard time with nerves Then when she had points for the match nerves hit again. She did brilliantly despite the nerves.

Konta and Kontaveit in the last 16. Who'd have thunk ?

If Kvitova plays the way she has played today, I wouldn't really feel it was likely that anybody but Ms Azarenka or Ms Williams could beat her. But who cares? Ms Konta has now spent several weeks playing like someone who should be seeded at a Grand Slam. I'll quite happily take that for the moment - and if she does win against Kvitova (it's not impossible) that's icing on the proverbial cake!

Utterly stunning from Jo - what a stunning climb up the rankings she is making and long may it continue.

I am very excited for Monday - bring on Kvitova!

Amazing from Jo. Super excited for Monday when I'll be landing into NYC. Now wondering whether I should've bought Women's QF's instead of Men's! :)

I assume that the women's QFs are mixed with the men's ( and not even half a round out of kilter this year as in past US Opens ) so you could strike lucky if Jo's still in ( how great would that be ! )

Otherwise, if you'ed like to see another session, you could try maybe just turning up ( or check online - don't know what facilties they have ? )

I just went on spec at the start of the second week and got tickets into Ashe no bother day and night a few years ago ( saw Andy demolish Stan in the last 16 at night - now that would be nice again this year ! )

Enjoy !
