Wooooooow!!. As said already, let's focus on Jo and celebrate her onwards and relentless march forward. She is becoming the epitome of consistency and playing great tennis, not defensive stuff .
Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant, brilliant, brilliant, fantastic, win for Konta, she played aggressive tennis and never let up. My nerves were in bits at break point 4-1 up in the 3rd set but she did amazing to hold her nerve. Really wonderful to see Konta finally realizing her potential.
I'm not quite sure I even knew she had that potential until maybe pretty recently.
Yes, she could look very good at times, but this - quite superb !

The most impressive thing was how she won that first set after letting a lead go and many pundits would have backed Muguruza in the final set given her ranking. I think winning this in 3 will actually give her more confidence because she had to battle and never let her level drop and fitness wise she looked brilliant even after over 3 hours.
How much money would I have got for betting Jo to finish above Heather in the rankings and Brydan above Ward. The odds will certainly be low now for the first.
Stunning from Jo that is top 10 form she's on just now playing better than Laura and Heather at their best so far. Our new British number 1 I think we can say.
Fantastic Jo, I nearly had a bet, but didn't want to jinx her.
Everything about Jo's game has improved exponentially this year, got to be targeting a Rio spot now, which would be special for her.

Indeed. Something in her has clicked. With an aggressive/offensive game, you've always got a great chance of things just finally connecting. Confidence, belief and mental fortitude being paramount in order to pull it off.
Super Jo!!!!

he fact that Heather is currently WR 61 with these 925 points ( 10 is simply replacing 10 here ) indicates the strides Jo is now making on the global scale, clearly within just one win of having a pretty similar ranking.

It's Thursday of the first week - Brits are playing all over the place: we have numerous doubles teams in the second round, at least one player in the 3rd round, and two more battling to get there. (Come on, Mr Murray and Mr Bedene. And next time, could we not have two 30s players in a row for Mr Murray's first two rounds?)
One note - can we either rename this thread or start another one for doubles, on behalf of Ms Robson and Ms Flipkens?
Joko/Petko is a really interesting match up. Petko didn't have a great summer but finding some form now so let's hope Joko isn't too emotionally and physically drained!
