Hopefully Jo does a better job against Chirico than Hev did, but you've still got to be happy with that draw.

Yes, Chirico does seem to be a bit unpredictable though generally on the up, but certainly take that for Jo. She may have to play pretty well to get through though.

The winner probably gets Muguruza.

Muguruza, impressive Wimbledon runner up and already WR 9 - yikes.

Muguruza, who since Wimbledon has lost in her first rounds in straight sets to Tsurenko in Toronto and Shvedova in Cincinnati and prior to Wimbledon lost to one Jo Konta at Eastbourne - better

First things first though, get ready for Chirico.

Good chance for all 3 but depends on their form.

This could really cement Jo in the top 100. Kick start Laura's comeback and get Heather going again.

Depends on their opponents' form too of course.

With Vesnina and Chirico in particular, I'd say it could very much be an on the day thing. And Lauren Davis was top 50 last year.

But yes, good draws.

And then there was peace between the qualifying and main draw action.

But we're ready to go again come Monday, food and drink intake carefully monitored and ideal sleep patterns assessed.

In the doubles ( do we have / need a separate thread ? ), unless I'm being extremely inattentive there is no Joss and Anna. I wasn"t keeping up to date, but I assume that they were gazumpted by late entries having looked just in at one stage
