Good grief what happened, the stuff of nightmares now 6-5 down after failing to serve the match out and blowing 3 MP's.
The not serving out was the big issue. I'd always very much hesitate about "blowing" MPs, not seeing it, when returning and I think two of the three were first serves.

Kyle out, managed to lose to an opponent he had beaten 5 times before. Obviously the pressure of the situation got to him and sadly he choked. A dreadful loss which will take some time to get over. I'm still in shock myself!
I wonder what happened. Having won 8 out of 8 slam qualifying matches this year and dropped just one set to Nishioka in 6 previous meetings, it wouldn't make much sense if he rather than his opponent was the one who got nervous trying to close it out

Kyle will be the 1st, 2nd or 3rd highest seeded FQR loser, so he will be in the 4-player draw for the lucky loser places. Hopefully that will provide a silver lining!

Let's hope Nishioka gets a stinker of a draw, that might mitigate some of the pain. Overall though this is a shocker especially as Kyle is clearly the more talented player but nerves might have played a part.
Darn. I said last night that 2 of our remaining 4 getting over the qualifying line would be pretty good ( and 3 tremendous ) and it was so nearly 2.
Can't help being disappointed in the end there that that one got away from Kyle, but he was having some tight service games in the final set even before the initial break back so was never really anything like cruising with just the one break.

Always difficult to draw conclusions about what happened at the end there, particularly without livestream. There are two players on a court and both have an effect on the result. It is too simple to say Player A lost so he must have played badly or he won so he must have played well without considering the opponent.
Did Kyle "choke" ? Well, it's possible. But it is equally possible that at *2-5 down, Nishioka decided, "what the heck, I am just going to go for this", loosened up and he hit a purple patch at just the wrong moment (for Kyle). With a ranking of 127, he is certainly capable of that kind of run.
So, disappointing though it may be, it is not the end of the world. Kyle is likely to be more disappointed than the rest of us put together, but he is level headed enough to put this out of his head quickly and move on.

Yes, Bob, we are all no doubt disappointed and it is quite likely Kyle made avoidable errors in these last few games.
But as you say, two players on court, we didn't see it, so nothing "obvious" to me.

Surely this account is satirical? Fantastic if it is, though!
