RE: Week 34 - US Open Qualifying

And it's been said that it was good for Kyle to "experience" qualifying here as against having made the main draw by right.

Never in my book, as I have indicated. He's had plenty of experiences and US Open qualifying is not that unique, just something as a progressing now top 100 player he would have ideally not had to deal with. In good form as he's been, it was still never any sort of given that he'd qualify ( too many good players, too much chance of one off day ).

Win today and I don't see any great benefit in having these three matches to get through, lose and it's to me clearly not a debate that it would have been much better he had made the main draw. There are times that everything is not for the best !

Anyway, Kyle, as of now, you are where you are, turn it round and win !!

Kyle bagels Nishioka to take the 2nd set but he must keep his concentration and not get complacent. A bagel is still just worth one set!

Yes get in Kyle day getting better now after initial doom and gloom. 2 through from 4 would be good especially the two that have the potential to win a couple rounds. Nishioka will implode again hopefully did he not go crazy once before against Kyle?

Kyle was 6-0 H2H against Nishioka before this match, winning 5 of their matches in straight sets (including two bagels and two breadsticks) and the only set Nishioka took off him before was the 1st set of their last meeting in Aptos this year, Kyle coming back to win that match 3-6 6-3 6-3.
