Lol! Well if he wasn't ill then I have to be blunt and say this is one of the worst performances I've seen by any player and take it from me I've watched a lot of tennis! The errors were unbelievable, he had 4 BP chances in the first set and really Herbert was hanging on but then Bedene just completely fell apart. Put it this way even James Ward would have beaten Bedene today and given his dismal form that will tell you just how bad Bedene was! Unless he had the flu or was feeling sick then theres no excuse for his performance.

Wow, rip James while you're at it.
I am disappointed by James' relatively poor form over recent times, well most of this year really. But in the grand scheme of things he's still been top 200 level anyway. So if Aljaz was indeed that bad did we need an "even James Ward " would have beaten him ? Seems he almost certainly would have.

It's one bad result, not sure the dramatics are entirely justified. Yes looking at the scoreline it looks very bad but could well be more to it than meets the eye. And another couple of wins this week before today as Aljaz continues a very good year

Good grief nicofrance....what are you like!
Aljaz fights and claws his way to a career best win, 6-7 7-6 7-6 over the world number 11, his best ever result, saving match points along the way. Less than 24 hours later he has little left in the tank, especially emotionally, and gets well beaten by a lower ranked player......and you think there is "no excuse for his performance"
Must say I agree with Shhh's analysis. Not a shocker and not a reason for worry or negativity - whether about Mr Bedene or the impact of his citizenship! Gives him some time to rest. Hope he gets a decent USO draw. Oh, and for those who (like me) missed the BBC story on his previous match, it's preserved for posterity in a Kelsey Anderson tweet. Suffice it to say that she was not impressed.
Pity about the Marray/Venus loss.
Inglot and Lindstedt third up (after 3:00 pm) against the WC team of the Harrison brothers.

It so very often happens that after a big win, the player goes out the next round: not exactly a cause for concern, with the USO next week. Moreover Herbert is a lad on the rise, not a journeyman - these things happen.
Seriously though I think his mind is probably on next week I'd expect the winner of this tournament to be a random choice.
Aljaz Bogwardene sounds better IMO
No, seriously, if he'd been told he was going to get three matches this week to prepare he would have taken it. So many matches this week will go the way of the player that wins the first set you'll find. Anderson I think will win it though.
