RE: Week 34 - ATP 250 - Winston-Salem Open, Winston-Salem, NC, USA (hard)

Any win against the WR11 is a good win, and to pull through from that position in the 3rd set is very positive
Agreed Eddie, having watched a fair bit of Aljaz last year his all-round game looks to have gone up a level this year.
At the rate he's going, we may well be looking at him being seeded for the Aussie Open in 2016 :)

Just managed to get on here - that was a cracking win and one I admit I did not expect. Looking at the scores, it does look as though Simon was trying - if you want to tank you don't bother taking it to tiebreakers, surely.

WHAT a pity we can't play him in DC!

The seeds have been going down like nine pins - to the extent that it's easier to list those still standing than those who've crashed out:  Anderson (2), JWT (3), Bellucci (6), Coric (8), Vesely (11), Johnson (13), "Gaba" (15) & the bad-tempered Pole, Janowicz (16)!  disbelief

Of course there was a third error on the BBC report, declaring Bedene a wildcard

 Um, that's half the seeds.

Yeah, is that normal for this tourney? I mean is it tactical as the USO is next week? In which case, why did they bother to enter???

Saw this result on the Beeb this morning (at least they got THAT right!), but only just able to get on here to celebrate it.
Well done Aljaz - fantastic win!

Aljaz Bedene putting in one of the worst performances I have ever seen , countless errors, blew 4 BP chances and then imploded completely. His performance is so far totally embarrassing. Its hard to believe he beat Simon yesterday, this is terrible for his confidence. Medical time out called. If he was ill why on earth take the court with the US Open so close?
