Both lads lost out in the final Q round:

FQR:

Gianluca DI NICOLA (ITA) [5] 6-1 6-1 Sizya Ernest KIVANDA (GBR) [10]

Jacopo STEFANINI (ITA) [7] 6-7(6) 6-1 6-3 George DAVIES (GBR) [9]


Unlucky for George. More 'unlucky' is that he didn't sign into the lucky losers because Sizyq obviously did and, presumably, was ranked lower but got the call:

R1: (LL) Sizya Kivanda WR 1994 v (wc) Riccardo Merone (ITA) WR 1623 (CH = 1569 a few months ago)

Also:

R1: (7) James Marsalek WR 718 v Francesco Vilardo (ITA) WR 787 (CH = 767 end-July)

James and Dave also playing the doubles together

lucky losers don't work like that at ITF - you apply and it is drawn randomly

From the rulebook:

The order of the ranked players shall be randomly drawn,
thereafter the order of the unranked players shall be drawn.
Protected Ranking shall not be used.

Cheers, paulisi. I always gets confused between ATP and ITF (and WTA???).

At least Sizya will have got a pay-cheque which is better than nothing smile

And George seems to be getting better results recently - he's young - I wouldn't be surprised to see him have a bit of a light-bulb moment at some point soon.

Was watching that one tick along - nice result for James - good to see him get an 'easy' win over a guy with a similar ranking.

Unfortunately, Dave is suffering .... 2-5 down against the Q guy.
