Does look a good draw and more than one match here is just what Laura needed.
One cautionary note that I'd have is that whilst I haven't really looked at all at Alexa Graham's record she has just turned 17 so could have a surprise or two in store.
I thought I'd read she'd used up her WCs for the year, was that just for ITF level? does that mean she's still got some left at WTA level?
The rules are complicated but a simplified version is:
Max 12 WCs over a season
Made up of 6 WTA/Grand Slam of which up to 3 can be main draw (there is an exception to this if you have had 3 WTA main draw then get offered a Grand Slam main draw WC) and 6 ITF of which up to 3 can be main draw.
Laura has so far had Eastbourne QWC, Wimbledon main draw WC, and 3 ITF main draw WCs.
I'd forgotten about Eastbourne, and hadn't realised that Wimby was included in the WTA quota, so really with the season 3/4 over still quite a few opportunities for WCs.
Alexa has a respectable ranking for a young 17 year old but hasnt had any real impact above 10k level. I dont know how well Laura is hitting the ball but would have to expect her to have more weight of shot than anything Alexa will have dealt with before.
I think anything other than a straight set win from Laura would be a surprise.
I'm hopeful with Laura, but not expecting too much too soon. I hope she does eventually get back though.
I read recently that she wasn't able to train her CV with her wrist recovery - which makes more sense now. I must admit I thought she just wasn't being dedicated at the time.
