Yay !!!!

"Just" the 3 more wins now for the title and if so ( almost certainly ) back into the top 100.

Well done, Jo, looked as if she kept at that very well.

Whoop!
Petra Martic up next. Not to be taken lightly, but not insurmountable either.

Not a bad closer for the W-S and Hibino team, after a poor start. Well done to Ms Konta on both singles and doubles: would love to know from those who have seen more of the Konta/Sanchez team play ... this feels as if it could be a tour level team ... would you agree?

Interesting with Jo. So often not the most confident appearing of girls on court I think she rather likes being in the doubles environment with a supportive partner. And now of late she has appeared grittier and a bit more confident in singles.

For now I think one is feeding off the other. Not seen enough of her doubles to really feel for how good she could get there, but been some impressive looking results from her and Sanchez, certainly suggesting tour level would not be unrealistic if concentrated on. For now, a very nice add-on.

It was pretty evident when I watched Jo during the grass court season, that her volleying in particular and her forecourt game in general was greatly improved on previous times I had watched her play.

Jo and Anna now 57/57 on entry list for US open. Entries close later today. Hope there are no last minute entries.......
