Laura has of course played Ksenia Pervak before, in the 2009 AO junior final (Pervak won 6-3 6-1). Laura had just turned 15 and Ksenia was 17, but both were ranked higher than they are now.

My worry is that by dropping down for singles (which she needs to do) she cant keep nudging up the doubles ranking.

She may end up being forced to choose.

I said that about 6 months ago on here and got shot down for it. Simple fact is she doesn't have the game at this level for any more than 5 or 6 games to win against top 500 players at a level required so doubles should be the way forward. im not a doubles fan at all and it is kind of an admission of defeat I feel lesser of the sports but it still is a sport an also a good chance to earn money if you get a good partner. Also a chance to play grand slams other than Wimbledon which won't be happening at singles level for sure.

I don't know how financially Emily can afford to travel to these tournaments I presume her parents must support her.

Here's hoping Em has another good run in the dubs with Nao this week then :)

5 of our own in dubs action in today's OOP; unfortunately 3 in the same match where Laura and partner take on Jossanna (seeded 3)

Hoping Jo has fully recovered from her recent bout of illness, for what looks like a loaded draw.
As for Laura, nice draw, Pervak has only played one very weak 25k event since returning from injury, and she retired after the 1st set of the final, so basically in a very similar position to Laura.

Hope Joss/Anna can get a good run in the doubles, and will be interesting to see if Em and partner can maintain their form from the last tournament.

King is a former world number 3 and two time slam winner just coming back from injury so that will be tough.

Loaded field in both draws

Has the doubles cut off for US Open happened?

If so I assume Joss and Anna have just missed out again. If not, this week may be massive.

According to tennisforum, it's this Friday, and currently they're in, but it's not confirmed yet.

Happy to see that, but also happy that it was competitive in terms of points won and lost. 57-49.
