Interestingly re earlier discussions about different schedules, as things stand Alex Ward and Evo will both be reentering the top 400 on Monday, both currently on 111 points.
I wonder what Dans aim for year end is. I'd imagine that he'd be aiming for Aus Open Q entry. So just outside top 200. With a minimum aim of top 300.
Looks like he's playing at a decent level. However his next match against Daniel will probably show us how much he is back towards his best.
Whether he gets toward top 200 will depend on a bit of luck with draws etc... I reckon he'll probably get to about 250.
Superb win. Dan I feel has made some good decisions since coming back from injury. It was clear in the summer that by winning through the wild card play off to get into Wimbledon Qualifying and then progressing to the final round that he was capable of winning decent points at challenger level.
Prior to getting injured he was in the best form of his career and 2014 was very difficult for him, I think he is someone who really enjoys playing, there are frequent reports of him being prepared to hit with anyone when training at Nottingham and I am not saying training but playing.
I think if he was an excellent trainer and advocate of the concept of aggregation of marginal gains like the Beckham's, Neville's and Murray's of this world he would be a top 50 player at his prime. That said we as mere mortals underestimate the psychological impact of injury and the restriction of capacity to play.
Dan is now in the prime years of his career and can see the progression of the age cohorts around him, seeing the progression of the likes of Kyle and indeed particularly Daniel Taro who he plays next must be phenomenally motivating, he knows he has a game that can beat the likes of the later regardless of rank and he now has some form. I agree this year is all about putting himself in a position to be competitive in 2016, very similar, but at a different level to Andys 2014.
Absolute rankings are unimportant although the cut off for Aussie qualifying would be tempting to scramble for, it is obviously more important that Dan manages his body and conditioning for a solid crack at 2016; not rushing to make the Aussie Open may have to part of that. Dan clearly does what he feels is best for him and although others may perceive that as not optimising his potential it is the right way for a man in his mid twenties, this year has shown steady improvement. He is great to watch and I am hopeful that he is really settled and increasing maturity wil deliver better results. It will be a roller coaster ride that we should all enjoy and if not "Que sera sera" !
Great win more please!!

Actually, for Mr Evans, I suspect Mr Stepanek may - in a funny sense - be the best draw possible. Enough of a "name" to inspire him to do his best and make this feel like a big stage - but not a player at his peak.
Looks like I forgot to press the Submit button yesterday afternoon!
Whilst I realised that Radek is on the comeback trail, his results haven't been great this year. He didn't play between the US open '14 and April. He has frankly struggled at Challenger level despite the occasional win at higher levels. 36 is certainly very old for a singles player. The refurbished ATP rankings page allows listing in order of age. I didn't realise Karlovic was so old -also 36, as is Jan Hernych (wr190). No other 36 year olds in the top 200. The Fed is 34...
Great result to get up to! Dan is agaist Taro Daniel tonight, 3rd on after a 10.00am start. Should be televised this time. It's going to be interesting!
Big names dropping like flies. Tipsarevic withdrew and his place was taken by Bourgue. We all know what happened to Stepanek (GET IN THERE EVO) and Gulbis was taken out by Marchenko last night as well.
An Evo world tour! Ireland - USA- Far East and then perhaps some more USA ? Or home...
Week 35 should work well, he will have a bit of time to settle and get over his jet lag from traveling from the west coast of the U.S.
Flying east to west is not too bad unless greater than 6-7 hours. He has obviously done so much better this week than last. Spending at least 10 days in the same time zone must have something to do with it.
A lot of the players that can cause a heavily stacked challenger will be engaged elsewhere or have to make a relatively late attempt to get across from the east coast (+4) hopefully incurring some brutal lag.
