Always a hard one when two Brits who could feasibly win the tournament face eachother in the QF's. I'm very happy for Dan, though, and think that if his fitness holds up then he could be winning this whole thing. As an aside, it is clear that this Vancouver expedition was much more beneficial than some Sharm, not only in current points but in matches won (many), opponents beaten (eg. Stepanek), and further possible point gain (over 2 1/2 his current point haul).
Watched the 1st two sets before giving up at 02.30am. If I had known the 3rd set was going to be so short, I would have stayed up.
The irony of the 1st two sets was that Dan served poorly in the 1st (less than 50% on 1st serve) but won it. In the 2nd set, he served superbly, at one point winning 21 consecutive points on serve, but still managed to lose the set. He constantly had Brydan under pressure but Brydan served well on the big points.
Going off to watch the rerun of the 3rd now. Back in 5 mins
To my mind JPS still starts as favourite, let's not forget this is Evo's 1st serious impact on a challenger draw in some time. That said, there's absolutely no reason why our Dan can't win if he plays up to the standard we've seen at times this week. Would love to see him win the tournament but I'm trying so hard not to get ahead of myself!!
Ah. Yes that would explain it. Forgot the women's scores don't appear in the WTA/ATP app with Challengers for some bizarre reason. Couldn't work out why no-one was on court.
Oh dear, the match before Dan's is only 5 games into the first set and I'm already dropping off the chair with tiredness. Good luck Dan, I'll take the tablet upstairs and check the scores/result when I wake up in the night (which I always do).
