The BBC don't go into quite as much depth as the Daily Mail. I guess in his defence this type of sledging is probably common place in football and other sports.
I've tried not to follow this, though it's hard to avoid the Vine if you're on Twitter at all (even on non-tennis feeds). Hence I'm not clear whether this was a comment to himself that got picked up by the mikes or (which would be far worse) something he actually said intending it to be heard. But either way, it rather reinforces the sense one gets that Kyrgios is not in a good place. If it was intended to be heard, well ... calling it sledging or trash-talking or dissing or whatever you will, the reality is the same. There are things that you just shouldn't say. This isn't about dropping the odd swear-word. This is about making unacceptable personal comments about real people. And you don't do that.

Reading the article yesterday from Nick K's mother about how he really needs Lleyton to take him in hand - well, yes, madame, but the young man should know how to behave anyway, Lleyton or not. Just plain rude, designed to hurt and shock, and uncalled for.
Mind you, Stan is not dear to my heart either - not an offence but, can't help it, difficult to warm to a 30 year-old who's broken up with his wife (with whom he has a toddler daughter), and taken up with a 19 year-old . .
As far as I understand it it was to himself and picked up by courtside mikes. Still very stupid and rude, but not as bad as saying it directly to Wawrinka.

It certainly looks to me that the comment was said directly to Stan.
Oh....and how offensive is it to the poor girl being named, she's little more than a child. Playing pro-tennis in an adult world I grant you but she's still just 19.

Not covering himself in glory is he really? Surely likely to upset at least three other people and his mum!
That said its all part of the rich tapestry of life and the type of gossip found in almost every work place now and then, the accuser would generally be perceived as a spiteful chopper and life goes on.
Unfortunately there are many much more unpleasant people committing all sorts of atrocities for this to lift the bad behaviour needle above plonker
He seems like a thoroughly unpleasant person. What a shame that you don't need to be nice, to be successful.
I agree, I used to like him, but now I'm just hoping he'll fall off the circuit. I don't think we need someone like him in the sport. He's been likened to Mac, but seems a hundred times worse to me.
I'm not a great Stan fan due to his (Swiss?) arrogance. However, I actually have no issue with him being entwined with Vekic. I'm sad he's split with his wife, and even sadder there's a kid involved, but that happens all the time now, and most of us aren't mega judgmental on people we know when that happens. For all we know she couldn't cope with him being away alot and cheated on him. as long as he's still begin decent to her and the kid, for me, it's up to them.
He didn't start up with Vekic till after his divorce. She's a consenting adult on the tour - as if Kyrios is to be believed, she was with Kokkinakis first.
Kyrgios was as quiet as a mouse tonight, and he lost, will be interesting to see whether he continues to behave like this on court, because it may be a way he uses to get himself pumped up, and ultimately helps him to win matches.
Some of his stuff I don't mind, but such personal stuff involving other people like that was absolutely out of order and coming out in that showcase hardly the same as tittle tattle in the office.
McEnroe and Connors were ten times worse, literally, so keep things in perspective. Kyrgios is a punk and his brother even more so. He'll earn far more from his resulting infamy than the slap on the wrist, $10,000 fine he has to pay. The only way of really dealing with him would be to chuck him out the U.S. Open this year. That would make impropriety pay. (They should do the same with drug cheats).
