RE: Week 32 - ITF ($10K) - Chiswick, UK Hard

With Harriet(probably) and Katy in the main draw of the 25K, the wildcards are almost certain to be given to the best performers here who have entered.

Fran, Freya, Helen, Jodie, Georgie and Emily are still left.

Helen withdrew and Jodie and Georgie didn't seem to enter(both down for Hungary grade 2). So looks like 3 wildcards guaranteed and A N Other

looks like they only played 10 minutes when rain stopped play.

But Jodie already 3-0 up v Harriet.

Freya 2-0 v Katy D (although 40-40 on Freya's serve)

And Em A took the first game v Fran and now has break point on Fran's serve.

That's youngsters 3, 'oldies' 0 -----

(but early days......)

Maybe takes a little while for Harriet & co to get their creaking old limbs going. Now stay fairly active in the break dears.

Exactly. Was down watching (and playing a little) in a money tournament two days ago and was reminded how none of the 'veteran' players ever sit down in the changeovers. Some quite high level players, 55+ and 65+, and no one sits down - coz, as they say, else they'd never get up and get going again! smile

Off and running again and everyone has got a game on the board.

Emily leads Fran *3-1
Jodie leads Harriet *3-1
Freya leads Katy 2-1*

At the re-start, the more experienced players coped with it better, but no major net result:

Katy breaks back (but it had been deuce when they stopped so always quite likely).

Harriet held and then had two break points, before Jodie got going again and it's now 4-1 to Jodie.

Em Arb very much up and running, serving for the set at 5-1

Jodie won the first set 6-1 as has Emily by the same score, so it is the youngsters in charge at the moment. Freya 4-4 with Katy

It's never easy playing Juniors

Jodie and Ms Arbuthnott doing great.

Jodie, I'd imagine, will have more trouble in the second set.

I could have seen Emily giving Fran big problems, if not that first set score, but Jodie vs Harriet, wow !

Jodie has the power that when she is in the zone can find winners from anywhere, so not too much of a surprise for me. Harriet from what I can remember is very steady. Jodie just needs to build up that consistency within matches. She is a break down in the second set.

Meanwhile Katy has taken the first set 6-4
