Only saw the final set but Kyle looked pretty good. Impressive on the forehand as usual and some nice passes. Good win, great mental strength and now a good shot at our favourite delivery person.
Well it wasn't always pretty but he got the job done. A bit more firepower than Nishioka but mostly, I thought the stronger temperament saw him through that one.
Didn't see it, but it seems to have been another good example of Kyle's grit and matchplay ability these days even when a bit off his best.
Remember the times in the past when he could have alarming fall aways that seemed more than physically related. Though confidence in his undoubted physical development will of course help.
The live rankings at live-tennis.eu show Kyle at 99 currently. Although someone did say that it isn't 100% accurate and there is a better live rankings elsewhere.
Regarding his ranking, the best online live resource (IMO) (onedrive.live.com/view.aspx%27ATP%20Rankings%27!G6) says he would be up to 99 in running if he reached the semis. Of course, there would be a host of players who could overtake still (Youzhny with one win, Munoz de la Nava and Taro Daniel with 2, and Struff with 4).
So, even though I don't think him reaching the top 100 is a big deal in the longer term, it would be a lineball outcome if he made the semis here. Of course, his overall upward trend in performance is the more important thing, but would be great to see another Brit make the top 100 this year.
This was one live site mentioned earlier and it agrees that Kyle is WR 99 in running AND that now only one player can overtake him, Bjorn Fratangelo, another Aptos semi finalist.
Kyle's top 100 place appears to have been secured by Taro Daniel losing out to John Millman in the Aptos quarter finals.

I think for quite a while it has been just a case of when rather than if for Kyle whereas Bogdanovic just always had that slight question mark hanging over his head.
Well done Kyle!

I always wondered whether we counted 100 as breaking the the top 100 that's what I had worked him out to be at now but if it's 99 regardless then that's that even better.
I always look at it as how many players are in the top 100 ?
I think the answer is clear, though rather nice to additionally get rid of the "1" and into the top 99.
In running Kyle is on 532 points, Fratangelo 506. Fratangelo would need to win the title with Kyle losing his SF for Kyle to "drop" to WR 100. If Kyle wins his SF ( and indeed final ) he will be moving higher still.
Disclaimer : I know Kyle's points are certainly 532. I am just accepting the other players' live scores from the two sites mentioned above ( I agree with those that say live-tennis.eu is pretty fallible, but tends to sort out stuff as the week progresses ). I went through the process / trauma of independently myself checking out all contenders over a few weeks with James and I can't be fussed with Kyle, knowing he was heading there whatever, just when ...

I always get the feeling listening to Kyle in interviews that the Top 100 milestone is probably more important to us than it is to him. As was said above, it was only ever a matter of time and I am sure Kyle has his sights set much higher anyway.
Regardless of that however, GET IN THERE KEDDERS. Chuffed to bits for you right now. I am sure that Mum, Dad, Kelly and Mylo are all very (and rightly) proud.
Edit: Note of caution. There was a lot of talk at the French Open about Kyle having broken into the Top 100 with his R1 win and he ended up a WR 101 after that. So I hope the calculations are correct. I'll believe it when I see it on Monday morning.
