I don;t see why he couldn't just turn up at Aptos. Last year, there were several byes in qualies. For sure it doesn't leave him loads of time for acclimatising and getting used to the court conditiosn. A couple of good weeks at these challenger events and he'll not need to worry about qualies again until he takes the next step. But I'm getting ahead of myself!
I do remember there were raised eyebrows in 2011 when he went back to Futures immediately after winning the Jersey Challenger. That didn't work out so well, he was knocked out early.
I'm looking forward to watching the streams. I'm guessing the draw and oop will be out later this evening..
Annie K just said on BT that Laura would be playing Vancouver, wasn't clear if it was a WC into qualies or MD. She also revealed that Jo missed tournaments due to sickness not injury, so hopefully she is 100% recovered to compete in Vancouver too.

I find it wierd that Robbo, isn't playing in any of the weeks running up to the USO, then using her protected ranking for it. Surely it would be better for her to get some match play first??
I thought someone said she was going to be playing Vancouver
Yes, see Phil's earlier post.
And Laura did retire injured from her last match, thankfully not the wrist, so good if she is back playing this week.
Aah yes, I hadn't seen that. I was going on the front page.
I'd forgotten that she had had to retire with back pain was it? It seems like a long time ago now. I hope that she is fully fit for a while and can make inroad back to the top.
