Neil's drawn the 1 seed AGAIN...last 2 tournaments he's managed that. What are the odds? Wait 10 days for a singles match and then this one comes along! At least the weather is better this week!

The Bolivian guy was second in the world, Junior WR 2, a few years back. Remember his name, beat Bambo and Oli, I think.

(Which again just shows that junior rankings, even the very highest ones, aren't worth all that much, as he's hardly been a high-flyer, lost a lot of R! challenger matches this year ... although there's plenty of time and clay is his favourite surface - nasty draw.....)

Doubles draw has been redone. Smethurst rang and said 'David Rice' and the guy thought he had said 'Wright'. Smethurst wasn't impressed - I couldn't help but laugh a little though!

biggrin

Must admit, I did do a bit of a double-take - thought Dave wasn't playing doubles this week and wasn't it nice (although a bit weird) of Smethers to partner the 16 year-old???

makes a bit more sense now . . . but, yes, must have messed up the seeding. . .

Think you've included a few doubles rankings for the Brits there...

Ha Ha, it's strange enough to me for Dave to be playing so many clay court tournaments ( some cunning plan on the part of his new (ish) coaching set-up ?? ), but then seemingly not playing doubles ...

He's been playing for German league the last couple of weekends...so is easier and cheaper to get to. Also cuts down on travelling time. As far as I know, that's why he's playing them.

Agreed - & duly amended.  I continue to blame the format adopted by the ATP, which seems to show the higher ranking (singes or doubles) by default & I paid the price of not checking properly before I posted!  furious

No worries, let me know if there's anything else - I'm quite nosey and willing to ask!
