RE: Week 31 - WTA ($250K) International - Citi Open Washington, USA Hard

If only she could do this more often Should see her close to top 200 again I think, which she rightly should be, considering the weight of her first serve.

That's really good from Naomi

In doubles action, Jossanna finally get a favourable draw; decent draw for Naomi, and Heather decides against the dubs.

R1: Jocelyn RAE/Anna SMITH (GBR/GBR) 156 vs. (WC) Alizé Cornet/Louisa Chirico (FRA/USA) 683
R1: Naomi BROADY/Elena BOGDAN (GBR/ROU) 271 vs. Shuko AOYAMA/Eri HOZUMI (JPN/JPN) 179

Is that a good draw or not ?

I would have thought Naomi's chances depend far more on her own serve than which of the 4 possible opponents she got drawn against. If she serves brilliantly, she might have a chance; otherwise she's relying on her opponent playing their worst match of the year (or perhaps their 2nd worst).

Heather first up on Stadium court. Naomi playing doubles in the evening.

Yup, pretty good.
Jarka is dangerous on her day because of her cannon forehand.
However, she's not been having so many good days recently, and many of her points are stacked from the end of last year, or early this; as shown below.

Also she has not played since Wimbledon so also a chance Naomi can 'catch her cold' to add in to the deal.

Hey imsomniacfolder, where can you get ranking 16 counter breakdowns for the women ? I'd find these very useful.

Don't think Naomi will catch her cold - believe she's been playing WTT

I just look at the results in all the tournaments each week and remember them all, and do the math(s) in my head...

Or...

Select player then select rankings, by date.

Layout of the site is awful (and can have pop ups), and they way they phrase things takes getting used to, especially in the way they explain their live rankings brackets, but the functions they provide are excellent - including the ability to fill out your prediction for all tournaments for the week (including ITFs) and see how the rankings would look if that came to pass.

Thank you so much, I'll have some fun later. What a life I live ...

Pretty amateur stuff from Heather so far although Chirico is hitting a nice ball.

Loses the set 6-3

Absolutely diabolical performance from Heather. Should be straight onto the practice court after that "effort".

Out 63 60. In a year of very low lows that was astoundingly bad in every aspect.

On the plus side theres no way she can play any worse next week. Not exactly evident what the training block in Argentina was designed to work on, but hopefully things click back into place in the run up to the Open.

Very disappointing day at the office.

Stuck at work so didn't get to see it (probably a good thing) but that was a surprising and disappointing result to say the least.
