Week 30 - Germany F9 ($10,000) - Essen (Clay)

One that appears to have slipped through our net!

L32: (1) David Rice WR 537 v (WC) Sebastian Pretchel UNR (CH 1349 in Feb last year)

Weirdly, Pauffers is in the dubs with Ricey but not the singles.

Currently 4-3*

Dave on clay again. Aren't his general clay singles results rather err bad ?

He's just won 7-5 in the 3rd. Rubbish windy conditions today! Don't start me on why Neil is in the doubles and not the singles!

R1:  (WC) Mark-Flavius (I kid you not!) Andres & Lars Martin (GER/GER) UNR vs (2) Neil Pauffley & Dave Rice CR 1732 (*)

(*) according to the ATP draw sheet, but technically, they should be UNR & thus not seeded at all.  Dave is currently 216 in doubles, while Neil (again, according to the ATP) is unranked, but has a CH of 594 from January 2010... confuse

Sorry to hear about the (presumed) officialdom c**k up in the inscription process . . .

Glad to see that the lads won their doubles nicely last night though smile

And then see that they've got a walkover into the semis too smilesmile

Yes it was a mess up with ipin...however it has been known to happen before and I was unsure why Neil didn't check it had gone through. Needless to say...I wasn't a happy bunny! It was a good win yesterday...think the real test will be tomorrow when I imagine they will play the 3rd seeds.

Dave lost, which is what he seems just now.

Dave and Tara seem similar in their random tournaments and results. The odd win for a point or 2 but generally going nowhere. A shame Dave should really be up with Josh and Ed

Relatively weak field, but Dave is a relatively weak clay court player.

L16: Dave Rice WR 537 lost to Marvin Netuschil (GER) WR 632 (CH 624 earlier this month)  6-2 6-3

sherbert was right:

SF:  (3) David Pel & Dennis van Scheppingen (*) (NED/NED) CR 1691 (672+1119) vs (2) Neil Pauffley & Dave Rice CR 1732

(*)  Blimey!  He's 40!

I'm pretty sure it's coach and player...which meant they actually played very well together. Surprised there's not more players travelling alone who do this...although there are less and less players travelling with coaches in the futures I think.

Interesting - that does sound like a good idea.

That was very quick Stircrazy! With a rain delay in the middle...got there in the end. With David Rice and David Pel on the court, Neil actually looked quite small for a change.
