Nice article about Lisa's latest comeback; fingers and toes crossed that her determination is duly rewarded :)

Wildcards at Chiswick for:

Lisa Whybourn - will not be required, should make main draw directly and can be re-allocated
Mollie Crouch - playing well on British Tour
Emily Appleton - good youngster
Jodie Burrage - good youngster (Jodie has 6pts from Barnstaple last year)

Could Evo turn up at Aptos and sign in? Interestingly but not related. Almost all college teams are named after macho wild animals, eg. Wolfpack, Cougars, Wildcats even the frogs are horned......UC Santa Cruz around the corner from Aptos have a yellow slug! Go slugs!!!

I love the idea of sports teams named slugs. But a yellow slug sounds vaguely terrifying .... though maybe that's the idea. Frighetning, if not macho.

Edit: I have now googled and discovered they are the "Banana Slugs" - named for "a bright yellow, slimy, shell-less mollusk commonly found on the redwood forest floor." And apparently, it's quite deliberate ... a response of the students to the highly competitive, take-your-athletics-verrry-seriously culture of US university sports. The administration tried to change it to something more dignified, but the students kept the mascot and eventually voted for it to be official. Rather sweet, actually. I think they will become my adopted team.

Spectator thanks for that, I encountered the banana slug on a brief trip to campus 5-6 years ago and it struck me as an extraordinary choice but never thought about looking it up, as you point out the rationale is spot on!

Northern California (Cal Bears apart) doesn't take itself too seriously on the mascot front
Stanford have a "Tree" who is very badly behaved in footballing circles and a marching band (also badly behaved) dress down and can't really March, but for many years they out performed the football team.

Back to tennis and very impressed with the UC Stanta Cruz tennis teams slogan "Banana slugs no known predators"

Yes, good to hear.

Will Kyle turn up to Aptos? Anybody know how the injury is?

With nine guys in qualifying and another four in the main draw, we might as well call Sharm a home tournament......

Maybe the LTA and the Egyptian tennis federation could come to an arrangement . . .

Given the number of Brits who play there I'd assumed that had already happened wink

not sure where to put this and apologies if its already been spoken about

on the old atp layout website there was a drop down menu at the top which gave tournaments for the whole year. does anyone know where it is now on the new layout ?

Under the tournament heading, there is a calendar, you can search by month, or top right, find a tournament, with all listed alphabetically.

I've found that the Spanish version is still available under the old layout, so if you know what you're looking for and still prefer the old format (e.g for rankings and point breakdowns) it can be easier to navigate.
