Mr Marray and partner won the first title of the year together, no? Good partnership - but having to play Andy Roddick and Mardy Fish is just dreadful. You can't win ... even if you beat them. And Mr Fleming + partner have definitely drawn a short straw.

Indeed they did, Spectator, I'd forgotten that ( ) - far too easy to lose track when players haven't regular/established partners... Rotten draws all round, methinks!
So that's what doubles has to do to get a mention as the headline story, eh? Sorry for Mr Marray and Mr Lu; seems to have been fairly close ... especially given that Mr Roddick must be virtually unbreakable. Ironically, the news story also mentions that the Bryans beat Groth and Guccione 6-1 6-2, which means that they not only won almost every point on their serve (21/21 on first serves, lost 3 points on serve) but consistently broke two of the most powerful servers in the game. An almost perfect match against a decent team, in other words. But that's not news ....
Mr Baghdatis and Mr Jaziri up next for Messrs Fleming and Müller. 2nd after 3:00 pm on the Grandstand.
QF: Colin Fleming & Gilles Müller (LUX) CR 290 (86+214) v Marcos Baghdatis & Malek Jaziri (CYP/TUN) CR ... well technically Baghdatis has no doubles ranking. In on his singles of 47. Jaziri's at 367, in on his singles ranking of 77)
PS: Looking at the draw to see who the next opponents might be, I noticed a name I didn't recognise playing with Donald Young. Turns out it's a local university player in his 2nd year, who sometimes serves as Mr Young's hitting partner. And who now has 45 points and a doubles ranking. Nice for him, if he decides to try to play futures!
