Laura will play a qualifier, Lluque Moreno, in the semi.
She's 19, ranked 1000, was beaten be Helen Parish in three close sets a couple of weeks ago, doesn't really seem to have had much form (lots of R1 losses) until this week where she beat the second seed (and just own her her QF in a third-set TB).
SF: Laura DEIGMAN (GBR) [5] 692 vs. (Q) María José LUQUE MORENO (ESP) UNR (CH 1000 08/2014; JCH 1092)
Good luck Laura.
I like a player who just keeps on working hard and improving.
Unfashionable and under appreciated, even in pages like these, because she's unlikely to win Grand Slams, or even anything above £10K, any time soon.
But, that top end glory is not the reason I support tennis.
'No Challenges Remaining' would call her and many like her (or the equivalent 'him's') irrelevant - actually they probably wouldn't be that kind as they consider everyone outside the top 15 'irrelevant', an attitude which I find rather diminishes the whole of the sport.
I really value the Laura's of this world, and I mean the D's, as well as the R's.
