Far too close. The Brit girls are having a complete mare this week. Only Laura D, Harriet and Mirabelle left in singles - and Harriet had a lucky escape in her R1 match.

Oops - Forgot Isabelle.

And Katy D.

I was thinking that it wasn't good for our group of 300s ranked players ( GB ranked 4 to 9 ! ) with Amanda, Em, Tara and Cav, but was letting it play out for Katy D and Harriet

I think it is because the standard of GB girls has dropped considerably from two three years ago

Yeah Sam and Jade retiring hasn't helped this group and Lisa being injured although good to see Lisa will be back at Chiswick she might do very well there it's going to be a weak 10k with loads of Brits like a mens10k of recent.

I think with hopefully some long term injured players returning and some promising youngers, at varying stages, playing more and more senior tournaments and getting better results, the top 500 depth could significantly improve in the next couple of years.

But while trying to avoid a sort of LTA seeming lack of concern for depth and non elite players, a big question is who from existing and future WR 300 to 500 players can rise further to threaten the top 200 and beyond.

Have I missed yet more news? Have either of these two officially or formally announced their retirement?

Is there any news on Elenor Dean.
Also got a question for you all.
I don't get to see live tennis as much as I use to but still an avid follower.
So to all those in the know do we have any potential top 150 players.
Laura Robson we all know it's a case of when not can she. So don't include her.

I thought Sam Murray was planning a comeback

Sorry, don't know about Eleanor's current situation, hopefully someone else does. Eleanor certainly looked a potential top 150 player, but it's been some time.

Of relatively new / young seniors I'd personally say that Katie Boulter was potentially top 150, but she's been injured and not played competitively since January. There appeared to be a few planned but aborted comebacks, however I have not heard anything for the last month or two. Katy Dunne maybe too, but she has had a slightly difficult 2015 after big progress last year. Still plenty time for both. From experience, I think other folk may fling in other names.

In the junior ranks the name that can't be avoided is 16yo Katie Swan ( we love our Katy/ies ! ), the world junior ranked no 5. This year she has been Australian Open Juniors runner-up and Wimbledon Juniors quarter finalist, plus in very limited senior appearances won an ITF 10K title in Egypt and won a qualifying round at Wimbledon beating the WR 118.

Well I had hoped Naomi Cav but now I doubt it !

Elly Dean has the potential having seen her twice.

For me Top 150 Tara Moore if she can recapture her form.

Most of the rest --- Harriet EWS Carreras Deigman  definitely Not

Katy Dunne possibility? Katie Boulter never seen her.

The Scottish girls I would say No but Anna Brogan has made headway.

If we are talking potential then I'd say add Katie Swan and Hariet dart to that list

Yes I thought same with Tara. Have seen her play. But I tend to think if no serious rise up the rankings by age 23/24 they tend to not to make the grade of top 150.
What do you think of Freya. Gabi. Mirabelle. Wish they would enter a few more events.

Freya Yes sorry saw her in Glasgow got through to quarters in February yes I think top 150

Harriet my opinion is based on Glasgow when I saw her she wasn't very clever that today beaten by an average French player.

Katie Swan obviously ! Havent Seen Gabi or Mirabelle.

My general point was that most of the girls we've mentioned (injuries excepted) were playing reasonabley well 3 months ago - a lot of them had improved their rankings compared to year end - why is it all going wrong now! Same girls - mainly same opponents - any ideas?

Also Laura D joins the long list of those who've lost their doubles - only Tara seems to have escaped.

I don't really know the girls' general coaching / training arrangements. But I do recall someone saying that comparatively with the girls more than the guys the NTC had been much more of their UK base, where they would spend quite a lot of time.

Not sure at all how much some may have been effected by what has occurred with the NTC, but is it possible that there has maybe been some delayed effect beginning to manifest itself more ?

Funding changes, NTC changes could all be contributing ...

That's Harriet and Katy suffering clear losses today to put the tin lid on our 300ers / GB ranks 4-9 week, or what there's been of it.
