That's Helen's first WTA point of any kind since late 2009, so something of a milestone in her comeback. Her last singles point (gained in Sunderland in November 2009) came from a 1 & 0 thrashing of an Estonian player who went on to make the top 700 the following year, so hopefully being in Estonia now makes that a good omen for tomorrow ...

Helen has just tweeted: "As low-energy days go, this one is pretty dire 😩 Time to go back to bed before attempting some doubles!"
Just what she didn't need having finally got what looked like a decent R1 draw. It looks like Helen won the first 5 points of the match (breaking in the first game) before it started going wrong. The killer stat is that she only won 5 points on serve, despite getting her df count down into single figures. In fact, they both had the same number of bps (7), suggesting that a few the Russian's service games may have been quite competitive but Dmitrieva won 6 of her bps to Helen's 1.
