No ( although he may have a slight niggle or two ). I took it that James was being considered "unselectable" due to his general performance level.

Although I have had Kyle in the driving seat for a little while, and certainly have my reservations about James, I wouldn't go that far. Indeed to me he's probably as of now still next up after Kyle and the likely selection if anything goes awry with Kyle - ie  ahead of Evo, Liam and Brydan.

Ah, I see. I think I'd still have him playing alongside Andy. He is pretty ropey outside a big stage, but fairly consistent within one, especially when representing his country.

Why do Davis Cup tickets need to be sold through agents anyway?

Because it's a heck of a lot cheaper for the LTA than setting up its own online ticket-selling facilities. And that saving feeds through into the price paid by the punter.

After I was ridiculing the idea, Mike Dickson reporting that Evo is being strongly considered for selection. I suppose he has beaten just about everything put in front of him so far since his return...

It's a big step up from the level he's been playing at in recent months, but he's clearly on form and we all know what a fully focused and fit Evo can do. I'd still go with Kyle personally, but if Leon thinks Evo is the man to choose I'd be happy with his decision. Still think it's a long shot but I'm intrigued as to how it'll all pan out.

I certainly have much less doubts regarding Evo than I had just a week or two ago.

Leon's plumped for him out of seemingly nowhere before and been rewarded.

I'd still think Kyke's in pole position, and I actually doubt that James is totally out of consideration. But I can well understand Evo being considered

It is very interesting. Kyle seems to have most going for him in terms of extended form, but James and Evo have more history of doing it on the occasion.

To me, it's a tie that you'ed like to pick 3 singles guys and 2 doubles specialists for to cover options re such as form and fatigue.

So there's one decision that has to be made since 5 into 4 doesn't go.

I'm a big Evo fan but I still think Kyle or James would be in front of him in the line at the moment. Evo certainly has the capability to come up with the goods in big matches (as does James for that matter) but it would be a pretty huge step up from the opposition he's faced recently. I would be happy to see him involved but right now would probably rather see him continue to rack up points for himself.
Along the same lines as Indy though, what looked like a pipe dream a few weeks ago is not looking quite so crazy now.
Every faith that Leon will make the right pick(s) whatever they may be

Kyle has been nominated in place of James, alongside Andy,Jamie and Dom

For Australia, Kyrgios hasn't been selected, so their team is Tomic, Groth, Kokkinakis and Hewitt

Not true. All five have been nominated, but there's only room for four names on the DC website. Leon will make his decision between them by Thursday after watching them in practice.
