We will end up playing in Lille at this rate.......
You've got to think that it at least OCCURRED to the LTA that GB might win the previous draw ..... (and that Australia might win theirs). There weren't that many permutations - you get the feeling that it's a huge shock out the blue.....

I doubt it would have made much difference. As Leon* told me not so long back, most of these venues can be booked out anything up to 2 years in advance.
could they play on Centre court, with the roof closed ? Surely they could get a court up and running by then. I guess a problem would be having a practice court available, Centre Court couldn't be used for matches and practice, and if either team wanted to be picky, they could say that none of the other courts at Wimbledon have roofs, so the practice court wasn't the same as the match court. I can see this ending up at Wembley Arena or the NEC, or how about my local arena at Nottingham ?
I think there is a rule against Centre Court not being able to stage non-Wimbledon matches. Court One would usually be the option if they weren't putting the new roof up!
Where was the Olympic Final played?
Perzactly!!! My dream scenario is the DC Final against Argentina being played on Centre Court on GRASS under the roof in November. It's a good thought no???
First there's the small matter of Argentina beating Belgium (possibly tricker with Monaco in doubt after his injury this week) and Great Britain beating Australia in September. They've just seeded Centre Court - 4 months for the grass to grow .... Personally I'm hoping Rusty'll stand in to take on Muzzah in the 4th rubber ... and lose. I did an analysis of possible venues about 2 weeks ago; thinking that the only possibles left are Leeds, Liverpool (tight turnaround time), Glasgow (Celtic at home the Saturday, rubbish transport home for those not wishing to brave it on foot and it needs an extra 500-1000 seats fitted in), Wembley Arena ... or Belfast which has capacity and no bookings.

ok maybe just Davis Cup! or the Olympics was an exception
Emirates Arena, Glasgow to be announced tomorrow. You heard it here first ladies and gents.
hope so. very little tennis tournaments to watch in Scotland spoiled for choice in South East England. As the backbone of the team are the Murrays then it should be in Scotland
It looks as if it's back to the Emirates a bit by default this time.
But it made itself in consideration, having been a greatly atmospheric venue last time, with capacity being presumably its big problem this time. As it is they have to increase it ( which they evidently can ) just to meet the SF regulations and it is fairly clear that the LTA understandably were looking for bigger venues.
As a Scot in Scotland, at the eastern end of the M8, I'm pretty pleased and good for me as I want to go ( a temporary cash flow problem permitting ! - no, I am not a tight Scot ) and I'm sure it will again provide a great atmosphere as could no doubt other arenas.
I don't personally see though that it "should be in Scotland".
PS : Don't know if the Celtic game will be moved at all, but currently they are at home on the Satuday. Near Ibrox would have been less of a problem logistically and with all these Union Jacks, Rangers fans would have assumed folk were going to the match !

So what do people think Dan Evans would have to do before the tie to get a shot at some Ausies? He has the win over Ausie no.1 Tomic under his belt (not sure what the latest is - is he expected not to play?) and to my mind if he has a few good wins in challengers (hoping for that to start this week where anything between a first round loss and win would not really surprise me - though winning the whole tournament seems unlikely) he is as good a shout as Edmund or Ward (I'm sure others will disagree) given his previous wins and Wards poor recent form.
There is absolutely no way they would choose Dan Evans. Zero chance! Yes he has a strong Davis Cup history but he's just not in that place yet. It's a real shame we still can't pick Bedene, but I feel like Edmund is starting to look like a stronger shout than Ward at the moment.
I predict Murray, Edmund, Murray, Inglot though Inglot could be replaced by Ward to ensure that if there's a problem with any of the singles players after the Friday that we have another choice in singles.
