Kokkinakis defeats Evans 7-5 6-4 after the Lord Mayor's show. I could see that Evo and Jamie Murray ( having a go at captaincy ) were becoming quite devastated by events, but hiding it well by keeping smiling.
It's a shame it won't be a home tie and this puts Leon Smith in more of a quandary regarding team selection, Evans and Ward have little clay court form and if Edmund does well in his next few tournaments he really should get the nod, regardless of this being the final whats not to say he won't get inspired. Castle and Lloyd seem to keep going on about putting him in for his debut in the final being risky but I think he has the scope to get a win especially against Darcis.
C'mon Belgium, confuse everyone with a fast hard court
Assuming it is clay, it does swing things back towards Kyle and James. But huge incentive for them and Evo to produce good form and get results in this coming period.

Should Ward, Edmund and Evans change their schedules to play some extra clay tournaments before November?
Good point, I'm not sure though how many tournaments are available unless they head off to South America. If Edmund feels he's ready to play I think he should. Theres no real pressure on him and he might just surprise, its very likely Belgium will choose clay but the negative for them is Andy Murray had a great clay court season. Edmund did qualify for the French Open and played against a partisan crowd when he won his first round match against Stephane Robert.
