Reason I have always been keen on All GB doubles pairs which can then be fielded in Davis cup . colin fleming could pair well with Jamie or Andy . With lack of depth in the squad for singles we are fully reliant on Andy to win both singles . Wardie could win a singles against the Australians but will be tough . So the doubles is in my opinion likely to be critical again !
If Andy is fit would play him in the doubles every time unless he's tired after singles . If it could be done Jamie entering a few tournaments with Andy or another British Davis cup partner of choice would be a wise move in preparation for our biggest Davis cup fixture since 1981
I would go for a Scottish venue - lots of Australians based in London and with the support in Scotland could elevate Andy and rest of the team to a higher level .
Go for a Scottish venue and get the doubles pair up to top form in others louis Cayer chance to contribute

Jonny Marray's not having a bad season with 2 tournament wins, 3rd rd Wimby, I'd be tempted to pair him with Jamie on current form.
Definitely think Andy should not play dubs; part after probably a long run at the USO and a lot of points to defend.
I'd be more hopeful of the GB number 2 whoever that MIT be possibly sneaking a win.
Would. Make GB slight favourites if a fit AM is playing
I heard it was postponed to 11 August but I can't remember where I read it!
Re the suggestion of the 02 being a good idea for a final if we get there - I'm pretty sure the final is held on neutral ground.
Steven said on twitter that if we win, we would play Argentina at home or Belgium away, which given Argentina's geographical location is a very good break. Travelling to Belgium would I think for most people, represent a nice opportunity for a break, with not a huge amount of travelling involved.

@daviscup Twitter said the GB v AUS SF venue would be announced on 12 August - see https://twitter.com/DavisCup/status/626323273341640705 - though they may have meant *by* 12 August. Under the rules, it had to be announced by 8 August unless an extension was granted and the same Twitter account later confirmed that a short extension had already been asked for. As to why they might not know by the 8th but will know by the 12th and what this might allow us to guess about the venue they are trying for and what the backup venue is, I have no idea!
And yes, as Phil said, normal home and away rules apply to the Final, though there has been some talk this week about that changing in future as all the candidates to become the new head of the ITF seem to be trying to outbid each other re. how they are going to try and destroy the unique nature and accessibility of Davis Cup in order to pander to international journalists and the 'big four'. Ricci Bitti may have had his faults but at least he 'got' DC.

Have to say I'm disappointed that Florence haven't been persuaded to move their gig. Entirely the band's prerogative of course but a weekend in Glasgow will be a lot more difficult / expensive for me than a weekend in Manchester would have been. Oh well, still hooping to get in on the DC action and see another GB win :)

I don't think a big act like Florence and the Machine were ever going to change dates at this short notice, but its interesting that their 1st choice would have been Manchester, maybe so that another part of the country would have been able to share directly the hosting of a DC tie.
