It seems like Kyle will be fit, but I wonder if they will select 3 singles players in the squad this time if Kyle has a slight injury worry and maybe keep Evo back for a 5th rubber if needed. I just can't see him selecting James.

Interesting. Given Jamie & Dom's doubles form, I'd been pretty sure that Leon would go with 2 doubles specialists, keeping open the option of Jamie & Andy or Jamie & Dom.

I am pretty sure that Jamie and Dom will only play doubles in the event that we are 2-0 up. Yes Jamie and Dom are both in decent form but they would effectively be a scratch pairing. Sometimes two good doubles players simply don't gel and I just can't see Leon taking that risk. It it is 1-1, or heaven forbid 0-2, I will be amazed if it isn't Andy and Jamie in the doubles.

I agree to a point, but remember that against the Americans, they came within a whisker of beating the Bryan Bros.  I would still back them to beat any Aussie pairing, 7 times out of 10.

My sincere hope is that if the worst comes to the worst and we lose the tie, the result is not blamed on Leon and his selection.  You are absolutely right that there is a good case for all three, but the truth is, whoever he picks, they are going to start as underdog for their matches.

That seems a tad unfair, whenever we win a tie he gets the credit for his brilliant team selection.smile

I agree.

Whomever he choses, I don't think we're going to be able to say what a BLATANTLY stupid decision (unlike the US decision to play on clay, for instance).

But he's the captain, he gets the credit when his decisions turn out well, and the 'blame' when they go wrong.

Good luck, Leon !

Let's hope it's a hatred of rubber chickens (or whatever they are served). Mr Murray going down sick doesn't really bear thinking about.

Big call to throw Evo in, hope it's the right one! I'd be lying if I said that hasn't made me that bit more excited for tomorrow now.

Come on GB!

Has Kyle's injury situation been clarified ?

As for James, presumably ( unless something else has happened ! ) Evo has just ended up looking to Leon the better bet.

I'd say surprise, surprise not, and given that possibility why Evo should have been in Glasgow from the off and hence presumably better prepared.

I assume ( maybe wrongly, but it seems to me a fair guess ) that indeed if Kyle had had his incident just this morning Evo would have been nowhere near Glasgow.

GO GB !

The four man team for clarification is Andy, Dan, Jamie and Dom so effectively commited to Dan for both singles days if it comes to it.

great stuff! other sports should take note picking a player on form not on whats achieved previously! Chuffed for Evo. Safer bet than Ward who is in abysmal form. Feel slightly sorry for Kyle but i'm sure he will get his go
