Kyle's 80 in the race so even if he has some average results to the end of the season he should still be top 100. It's a shame he's not playing next week . I still think he needs to bulk up a bit and improve his service speed but overall he played his best match in the final which is a positive sign moving forward.
Only caught parts of this match and his QF but he's looked very dominant in both matches and genuinely looks like a class above this field. Won't be long before he's playing regularly in ATP events.
Am I right in thinking that these points have come just too late for the US Open acceptance ?
Correct. US Open acceptance list was published at the start of the week. Kyle was somewhere in the region of 17th alt, so will have to go through qualifying, but seeded.

Its somewhat confusing because the US Open has given direct entry to the top 99 players but if you add that to 16 qualifiers and 8 wildcards that only comes to 123 when the draw has to be 128.
Really impressive from Kyle today, stepped it up a gear. His opponent didn't have an answer, and then played poorly once the full onslaught from Kyle had been revealed.
Barring injury Kyle should sooner rather than later climb into the top 100, but that isn't his target, that's much higher up the rankings.

104 get direct entry. Might be keeping a few slots open for PRs I guess? No idea.

There are five players using Protected Ranking on top of the 99.

Any chance of a US Open WC for Kyle? Kudla got one for Wimby based on his performance in the Challengers leading up to the event so maybe a good case was made today for a reciprocal arrangement. On the other hand I quite fancy Kyle to qualify anyway if it comes to it.

I'm almost certain there is some sort of WC award for the run of hard-court challengers leading up to the USO. However I'll rely on somebody more informed than myself to explain what that is and whether Kyle would be eligible (not sure if not playing at Lexington will impact on that). Floor's open
U.S. Qualifying is entirely appropriate for Kyle this year. Admittedly he was recovering from his abdominal muscle tear but I think he took away much more from his performances at the Aussie open and RG than he did from Wimbledon.
Playing the way he played this week he stands an excellent chance of progressing through what is the equivalent of an extremely well rewarded challenger. Just gutted I can't go and watch him!
One of the things I have loved watching with Kyle this week is his demeanor on court. He remains completely unflustered and just seems to take everything in his stride. The only time he looked remotely nervous or uncomfortable was when they thrust a microphone in his hand at the presentation ceremony. Got to work on those interview skills Kedders
