RE: Week 28 - ITF ($25K) - Imola, Italy - Carpet

Katy's second round match is due to start reasonably soon. The match is streamed again.

Katy breaks in the 3rd game. She had at least one chance to break in the 1st game. Kichenok has a big serve and strong groundies, but is making a fair few errors at the moment.

A double fault and some big hitting from the Ukrainian and Katy finds herself 0-40 down, but some wonderful play (and some poor play by Kichenok) and she manages to hold. A highlight includes a sliced forehand passing shot on the run.

I am not keen on the sky blue court, you can't see the ball against it.

*3-2 to Katy

Whilst Katy is moving well, keeping the ball to a good length and hitting some winners, a lot of it seems to be coming down to whether the Ukrainian can hit a winner or if she's going to club the ball into the net/ out.

(I'm not sure about the court colour either)

Broken from 40-0 up
Katy 3-3* Kichenok

A netted smash from Kichenok and Dunne regains the break 4-3

Club standard this. In fact, not even that.

Katy has several set points on serve, but cannot convert.

She's rather frustrated and berating herself a lot at the moment.

Katy snatches the tie break 8-6. It, like the whole set, really could have gone either way.

Kichenok was not happy to lose that set and her racquet felt the brunt of her emotions.

Tuned in for a bit, based on your comment.

The tennis may have been bad but Kichenok's racket throw after losing the first set was brilliantbiggrin

Well done to Katy for regaining her composure after losing set points.

Tell you what, she could easily have been defaulted for that, it nearly hit the umpire!

yes, Katy is struggling with the flat heavy one down the middle but if she stays in the rallies she should win.

No luck for Katy - lost both second and third set quite comfortably judging by the scoreline
