That really is disappointing - Mandy was 5-1 up in the final set and 6-4 up in the tie breaker and couldn't get over the line. Back to the clay courts, I think.
Followed by the sequel entitled 'how to lose a tie-break when you've had four match points' . . .
But it was all on the youngster's racquet - Mandy wasn't doing much - pretty devastating though after being 5-1 up and 6-3 up in the TB . . .
Astonishing. Good to know that it was all on the youngster's racket. At Mandy's level/ranking/ etc. surely she should know that you've got to take it rather than be passive waiting for errors.
Don't know what happened today - watched the match and she never looked comfortable from start to finish even when she was well ahead. Hope it's some temporary post-grass hangover as, looking at the other reults, most brit girls seem to have caught it!

personally having seen her about three/four times playing her only surface is clay. Struggles on faster surfaces
I think it was widely reported that Foretz had an absolute mare that day (which happens to everyone once in a while)
Possibly. But I'm always a bit wary of the 'I played SO badly that day' excuse - it takes two....the other one still has to win it.
I thought Mandy looked OK on grass - the low bounce suits hers (she's quite small), unlike some of the tall players who were having real problems. She's light and nimble on her feet, moves well. Not saying she;s a natural grass court player (!) but, in fact, I think hard courts are probably the worst for her (and definitely if yesterday is anything to go by).
