Both girls get a relatively easy first round match (from the look of things). Katy will then get the third see in R2. Mandy, on paper, would then play the third seed in the QFs.

R1:  Katy Dunne (GBR) WR 339 v (wc) Beatrice Torelli (ITA) UNR (CH 1103 in Nov. 13), age 17

R1:  Amanda Carreras (GBR) WR 307 v (wc) Jessica Pieri (ITA) WR 1027, age 18

Torelli had a Junior career high of 62 and Pieri a JCH of 150.

That might be quite tough for Katy against a good junior on her favourite surface.

The surface at Imola is outdoor carpet isn't it? It was a 15K last year and Katy won it.

 oh! I wasn't making a dig, I hadn't checked the ITF site, I was just wondering whether the surface had changed since last year. Here's hoping that Katy can repeat her run from last year and get a bigger haul of points and money.

I'm hoping Katy's move to Gosling will inspire her for the 2nd part of the season. Next year will be a big year for Katy, but any progress made over the last 6 months of this one, will lay a great foundation going forward. She has a great personality, lots of ability, and I for one, believe she will start to make serious progress once again very soon.

Amanda and Katie won't meet until the QF - but do meet in the first round of the doubles. If they do meet in the singles it will be a good result for them both -  whatever the outcome.
