Mirabelle is showing some very steady progress. Will be interesting to see how far she can go.
Apart from her QF, Mirabelle will soon face the same problem in the singles as she now has in the doubles - i.e. she will have a full set of "counters". 1 or 2 pts won't be enough to move her forward so she will have to regularly win some QFs or try her hand in qualifying for bigger tournaments.
Well done a good win today - even if it was only singles

They probably have a clear plan - looking back at what she's been doing . I hope they are looking at the points as secondary and are focusing more on building her aggressive game to a stable level (i.e. less error prone), then move on to bigger tournaments especially given that they've been doing their stuff without WCs.

Yes, but I think the last 12 months shows that she went from losing in qualifying (in quite a few tournaments), to losing in R1 of the main draw, having qualified, to then losing in R2 and getting one pointers, to now losing in the QF and getting 2 points. There were a couple of 2 pointers earlier but overall it's been a remarkably steady, consistent progression (without setting the world alight).
On that basis, it is likely that she will then move on to making the semis, and then some finals etc. over the next 6 months or more, and so will boost her rankings naturally. (Of course, many things are not linear so there may be blips, one way or the other, but it seems set fine to do so).
And, yes, hopefully the main thrust of her gameplan will be more on the game itself than the actual ranking - after all, she's still a junior, so there's no rush.
Don't know what the plan is (I'm sure there is one) but it looks as though she'll play 16+ tournaments this year. I think the game and the ranking will go hand in hand. Not playing next week but in Turkey for week 30. I think she might of earned a week off after the last 2 months.
