RE: Wisdom on the queue

I've had a reply - a bit wishy washy and I don't expect any changes judging by paragraph 2

"Thank you very much for supplying this feedback, I have put it in our feedback document for our review day.
You do raise some very valid points and when we have our ballot review I will raise this to senior management.
Please note, the LTA do not run the Championships therefore, we can only make changes to the ballots that we run on the ticket allocation we receive from the All England Lawn Tennis Club.
Demand far outweighs the supply of tickets we have therefore, we do feel that running a ballot for British Tennis Members through clubs and paying BTM's is the fairest way to allocate tickets.
I will raise your points that you have made however, I cannot confirm that any major changes to the ballot will be implemented for 2016."

At least you've had a reply - wishy washy or otherwise - but like others I think your idea is a good one or has some legs as some people put it. And good on you for trying.

Yes, well done paulisi.

Whatever happens (even if, and most likely, nothing) it shows the LTA that people are not convinced the way at the moment is the best way, which at least raises the whole issue and generates some focus on it.

I like the idea.

Now that I have a little more time than earlier today just a few other comments.

In principle Paulisi has come up with imho a good idea. Though I don't think you will ever find a perfect way of allocating or distributing tickets particularly at events like Wimbledon, this would be much better potentially than the Public Ballot and if the LTA could convince the AELTC (which could be a challenge in itself) to give up a decent percentage of what they currently allocate to that, plus, and god forbid, what they currently allocate to corporate hospitality, then that would be a great start. Please feel free to tell me if I am being a bit naïve if I think the AELTC will consider either of those things or at least not to the extent we might want.

On the voucher system itself Paulisi - and I don't know if you went into specifics with the LTA - when you refer to attending other GB Tennis events what exactly did you have in mind? Did you mean just 1 other event, 2 events, per year? More points for say going to Challenger/ITF events (Manchester Nottingham, Surbiton) and may be less for going to WTA/ATP main tour events such as Nottingham, Eastbourne, Birmingham etc. There will be of course people who will find it more convenient to attend some events rather than others due to things like travel/costs/other commitments but that might event itself out. But generally any idea that would help prevent people who only come out of the woodwork for Wimbledon and who generally take no interest in tennis whatsoever for the other 50 weeks of the year (like celebrities and other members of the general public) from getting their hands on a ticket, and therefore gives a greater opportunity to the members of this forum for example who follow the sport all year round has to be a good thing. Also, did you system encompassing being allocated ground pass tickets s well as the main show courts. Nothing wrong with ground passes as at least if someone was travelling from afar they would not need to queue, though I should also comment that I do respect those that are prepared to queue and I don't think the AELTC will eradicate that completely - well not anytime soon. Some people love it and even made friends from it and that's great but it does look a bit outdated in this day and age.

I left the voucher system vague and I agree the queue is a tradition that should stay, although you seem to have to get there earlier and earlier these days.
I'd take a ground pass if it was a part of the package.

Even if you have a ballot through the voucher scheme, it may be a start.

I think it would be good if they allowed some ground passes in the ballot. I can't go now anyway, but when I could, it meant either hotel bills for two nights, or travelling overnight and going straight to the queue just for ground passes - then being too tired to appreciate the tennis! People living a long way from London have a decided disadvantage.
