Smethurst Evans final for me

Good prediction - I suspect if Smethy stays fit he will fly back toward the top 300 which he made last year

15 pts for this run should move Evo back into the Top 600 and, although he has 8 points due off at the start of August, that's all he's defending now until next May (!)
So the only way is up - literally! And I think it's positive to see Dan grinding out the wins at Futures level, having been fairly clear as to how much he enjoys playing these smaller events!
Also happy to see Mr Smethurst in the final. GB boys taking the big(ger) points home this week :)

singles, Dan v Dan started, 3-3 looks like it's going with serve, (though haven't watched score from beginning).

Evo was 6-2 up in the breaker with 4 MPs. Dan S fought back to 6-6. Another MP for Evo and then an SP for Dan S.

But Evo finally takes it 10-8 and with it the title and 27 points.

Great effort from both players.

And Evo wins the 2nd set tie-break 10-8 and seals the match 7-6(4) 7-6(8)
A cool 27 points to give him a big boost in the rankings, and hard lines for Dan S, looks like a close match but a good week for him and 15 points notched up

IMO it is a really good sign that Evans managed to regroup mentally after missing those MPs. We have seen far too often situations like that where his head drops then he quickly loses the third set.

That win should take him to about 580 in the ranking, one postion above a nobody called Juan Martin Del Potro.
