The season of summer cups starts tomorrow with the under 14s trying to qualify for the European final, which in turn can provide entry into the World finals in August. They need to win their first two qualifiers to make the finals, and the team of Jack Draper, Jacob Fearnley and Harry Wendelken open against Switzerland
A disappointing 2-1 loss ends the under 14 hopes. Jack won 6-1 6-2 but straight sets defeats for Jacob and Harry/Jack in the doubles mean they cannot reach the finals
The under 12s have started their bid to reach the final with 3 wins in their group (3-0 over Israel + Poland, and 2-1 against the Slovak Republic). That means they take on the second nation in the other group in Rakovnik, Austria, for a place in the final. The team is comprised of Jack Pinnington Jones, Derrick Chen and Harry Lazell
The under 12s qualified with a 2-1 win (Derrick won 6-2 6-1, Jack lost 1-6 6-3 7-5, but the two teamed up to win the deciding doubles 6-4 6-3). The finals start on the 6th August
Qualifying for the remaining age groups gets underway tomorrow. The under 16s (Finn Bass, Jack Molloy and Max Stewart) are in Romania and have drawn 3rd seeds Switzerland while the under 18s (Jay Clarke, Jonathan Gray and Ryan Storrie) are in Venice and play Croatia
