Yet again the bloody seventh seeds get out of jail in the fifth set, this time more emphatically than against Ken & Neal! That said, not bad for a scratch pairing at a Grand Slam.
R2: (7) Marcin Matkowski & Nenad Zimonjic (POL/SRB) CR 28 (17+11) defeated Dom Inglot & Édouard Roger-Vasselin (FRA) CR 68 (46+22) by 6-7(4) 2-6 7-6(3) 6-4 6-3
The final set looks more respectable than it might have been, given that the boys broke at *1-6 & then held, but could not break again.
Some very poor sportsmanship/cheating from John Peers at 1-1 in the 3rd set tiebreak, not admitting a ball touching his racquet, which led to Sock and Pospisil getting very angry and they have played much better since.
OK, I know doubles is the poor relation of tennis, but Murray and Peers have beaten the defending champions to reach the quarter finals, and there is not a single mention of this on the BBC tennis page...and minimal comments on here too! Strange, or is everyone down the pub??
Agree on the Murray/Peers v Pospisil/Sock match. Well done to Messrs Murray and Peers for reaching the QF. They had some superb play - great teamwork and fine shots (though, in fairness, at times they were also helped by the fact that Pospisil and Sock didn't seem to be firing on all cylinders). If anyone else was watching, am I correct in thinking that Sock called himself out at a key point in the second set tiebreaker? Couldn't quite tell what was going on. If so, good on him.
And I'm sure that Mr Murray (A) is grateful that his next opponent was forced to play ten sets of tennis in one day (poor lad)!

I wasn't at the pub, but at Covent Garden yesterday evening or I'd most certainly have been jumping up & down at Jamie's & John's result. I knew the';d taken the first set before I left work & got to know the outcome during the interval courtesy of a text from a friend. The fact that I was out all evening meant that I was forced to watch Wimbledon 2day ( ) on iPlayer when I got home (thank God the Beeb's finally responded to the barrage of criticism of the new, shambolic & massively dumbed-down format & restored it to something like its former self - & minus pointless live audience! ). There was a very brief mention of the doubles victory, but only in the context of its implications for Pospisil's potential weariness after having played ten sets of tennis yesterday.
Saw a bit of Peya and Soares against Nestor and Paes, and they look very sharp. Should be a good match. I cannot fathom why top-level doubles doesn't get more publicity and broadcast time. I do understand that at lower levels doubles is a bit of a poor relation, but the top teams are so much fun to watch, and the tennis is so good.
