To be fair it was a close mixed doubles and Mirnyi lost his serve to love to lose the game, with Heather at fault for only one of the points.

 That sounds perfectly reasonable.

I only saw the last few games anyway so I have no idea how Heather performed in the main body of the match. I do agree though that there is every possibility a couple of extra days rest could have helped.

On the other hand with mixed doubles I think it's best to either have a really good run or get knocked out in week 1. At least now Heather has a bit more time to rest and start training for the hardcourt season.

 

I do think there are some exciting weeks ahead for the British women too. Heather started the grass court season on a bit of a low ebb, but ended it playing brilliantly - can she take that form into her next few tournaments. JoKo has also had a very impressive grass court season and it will be exciting to see if she can continue at the same level and push on into the top 100. It's great to see Laura back playing again and I expect she will be very busy with lots of ITFs in the weeks ahead. And finally Joss & Anna will be looking to continue their progress up the rankings and hopefully will be able to play in all the majors soon.

 

 

I agree will be interesting to see if Hev can build on this, I was amazed at her mental fortitude after taking that 2nd set. She just sat down in the chair, stayed composed, when there was complete bedlam going on in the stands, and you could tell by the look in her eyes that she wasn't finished and still fancied her chances. The fact she didn't win is not that big a deal. Imagine if she had she would have been touted as a future grand slam champ, not helpful. The crowd was huge in this match, I was watching a bit of mixed on court 17, and you could tell every point which Hev won, the noise was so loud.

If Hev can get more consistent she should be a solid top 30 player on this form, with potential to get into the top 20, lets hope thats the case.
