Only Jo has a tough draw the rest can be very happy id say. Naomi has a clay courter who has barely been top 100 Heather has the 32nd seed which means a great chance of getting to 3rd round and Laura has a winnable match or a match she should avoid bakery products. Had Laura got Sharapova instead of Jo bakery's more than likely.
Thought the men's singles draws were bad - but the idea that out of five WCs, our players manage to draw the team that have won both of this year's Slams, the number two seeds, and the Williams sisters is almost beyond belief. And while Ms Konta would doubtless be glad to tell her grandchildren that she had played Sharapova, Venus Williams and Serena Williams, she could probably do without having faced them all in the 1st round of the same tournament.
My summise is
1. Great draw for Hev, in terms of having to play a seed in R1 or R2, Garcia's worst surface is grass.
2. Great draw for Naomi.
3. Nice draw for Laura, but Rodina is better than her ranking, so 6 games for Laura would be my best guess.
4. Shocker for Jo, but I could see her winning a set if she rises to the occasion.
Not bad draws considering some of the horror selections we've had in previous years. I'm hopeful for Naomi and Heather...the other two have tough asks given a) the opponent, in Johanna's case, and b) circumstances, in Laura's case.
JoKo should go out and enjoy playing on a big court against a big name - not many can claim to have done it. She's playing well and should cause Sharapova some problems. And you never know...
The early bookies odds show a lot of confidence in the GB girls (Naomi 8/15, Heather 8/11, Laura 6/4, Johanna 11/2 on Bet365). So much so that I may well be investing some money on their opponents that I hope to lose.

The bookies always overrate our chances at Wimby, so yes backing their opponents is a sound business move ;)
Real shame for JoKo but I'd give her a chance, it's the first round and she's on fire at the mo. Naomi has a good chance. HEv's form is really worrying but again she has a chance Laura you'd like to say should win and it's not a bad draw for her considering, but still very early days. Where they put the match may have an effect on that one.
and looking again at the draw actually, if JoKo can get over that huge first hurdle, the rest of that section looks quite attractive to play against.

It felt inevitable that Jo would draw a top seed. I even said to my colleague yesterday morning "I bet she'll draw Serena or Sharapova". Selfishly though, super excited to be on Henman Hill for this one on Monday - what a great chance for Jo to just go out and attack, particularly the Sharapova second serve.
Good draw for Laura, not least because it won't be on a show court and so will feel more like a development opportunity. If she can get the serve working, it might be closer than we think.
I would argue it's a great draw for Naomi and Hev. If Hev wants to progress and make second week of GS's, then these are the types of draws she has to take advantage of - they won't come around too often.

I was thinking Serena or Kvitova for JoKo so wasn't too far off! What Sharapova and Serena both share in common is that they haven't played since the French Open so will be rusty. If she doesn't freeze, which i'm a bit concerned she might, it could get very exciting if she starts well. I can see Sharapova serving some double faults.
I'm with Phil on Laura, can see her winning around 6 games, but did think the same as you about her serve.
My initial reaction for Hev was tricky, just not sure how well she's playing atm, but if Garcia is weaker on this surface then she might have a chance. But Hev seems to be up and down, could see her losing R2 if she was to beat Garcia.
