RE: Wimbledon Ladies' Draw 2015

Well done Heather. Enjoyed watching that. She always fights. And now maybe a match with Queen Serena herself :) :)

Great to see that Joss and Anna won too and won well. With Anna's complexion and today's weather it's probably a good thing they won so quickly too!

Hev did a great professional job today, a bit more relaxed and made it look very comfortable. Really hope she can give Serena a good match, well win 6 games would be good.

Great win in the doubles for Joss/ Anna, just a massive shame about their draw. With a better draw I could have seen them reach the quarters. Also happy to see Jo get her win as well.

So that's why the Williams sisters withdrew. Scared.

Not according to today's Evening Standard.

Mixed doubles draw is up, featuring only JMarray+AnnaSmith, KenSkupski+JoKo and NSkupski+Raymond.

Er, I think you'll find that there are others as well (Hev with Max Mirnyi, Joss with Colin Fleming + Dom Inglot with a Ukrainian partner), but, strangely, no Naomi & Liam Broady - cf. the mixed doubles thread in the men's forum.  wink

Yeah, sorry for getting this wrong. I'm only seeing half the draw on the Wimbledon website.

The Williams sisters can claim they're worried about the heat all they like. I still think they knew they had no chance against JoKo+, and withdrew to avoid humiliation.

That's the best Heather has played at Wimbledon by far I wasn't impressed against Garcia. Will need another gear or ten to beat Serena target should be anything more than 6 games and take it from there.

More than 6 games against a healthy Ms Williams would be a good result for almost any player. For a player whose strength is counterpunching, it feels like quite a lot. But what's the difference? Ms Watson has earned the right to play Ms Williams in the 3rd round of a Grand Slam. That's an extraordinary accomplishment in and of itself. Well done she. And I hope she wins more than the 6!

Really lovely to see so many of our women doing so well. Great work by the two doubles teams, too.
