Did I miss something ?!!!! What happened to the Williams sisters ?!!!
They withdrew, for some unknown reason that doesn't stop them playing singles. I don't even know if you need to give a reason for withdrawing from doubles.

They did it at the French too, very strange, as no injuries.
I suspect Venus doesn't want to play both doubles and singles, so having got past the 1st round pulled out of doubles. We know she has an ongoing condition, but there's no suggestion that she isn't perfectly fine to play in singles today.
Also, as this may have slipped under the radar, Joss and Anna face a replacement team of Cepelova and Voegele after Bouchard unsurprisingly withdrew (given the performances of Cepelova and Bouchard yesterday, this is probably not a good switch, but neither Cepelova or Voegele are top 100 in singles or doubles).

JoKo and Sanchez take the first set 6-3. Probably fair to say that Doi and Vogt are a slightly less intimidating opposition to face on the other side of the net that their original opponents.
