RE: Weeks 26 & 27 - Wimbledon - men's main draw (grass)

I hold my hands up, I never thought he'd do it after all the chances he had, but I am so happy and relieved to hold my hands up, I was wrong. Why can't he play like this 12 months of the year, or even 6?! Brilliant.

So it looks like Rafa could play the British top three in successive rounds, at this rate.

Well obviously he didn't fancy it.

Hmmm. So they've scheduled two mens matches, including Mr Ward v Mr Pospisil for Court 1 ... after the completion of Cilic and Isner. Probably fine, but one does just wonder what would happen if Cilic/Isner decided to rival Isner/Mahut ....

I was thinking that. Also Murray and Ward both scheduled third on. Now Ward's match is indeed after the Cilic/Isner game, so it could well be on as early as 3, but equally there must be a decent chance both start at similar times and as you say, even a distinct chance of the Isner/Cilic match going on for hours.

Cilic has just beaten Isner 12-10 in the fifth so Ward will be on soon.

Seems to be playing to his normal standard. Serve nearly hit the baseline and forehands half way up the net.

Apart from his serve, he's been quite poor so far. Returning has been really poor (lots of missed second serves too) and hasn't really done anything in the rallies at all.

That was bit more encouraging, four good points from 0-30 down. Probably too late to save this set but hopefully can settle down a bit in the second.

i'd say thats a bit harsh, theres not much you can do when pospsil is serving as well as he is and getting so much kick or slice on his 2nd seerve

You can use the kick excuse on the first couple but when - by the end of the set - you've only won 20% of your second serve returns.... sorry that's poor.

A bit of a gift there from Pospisil (two successive doubles) but Wardy takes full advantage to break.

Quite low quality stuff so far. I just wish James would show a bit more emotion. But more of the current same, please.

That was a sublime defensive lob in the middle of that rally. Murray-esque. A chance for a double break here...

Alas, Pospisil digs his way out. *3-1.

Two awful second service returns: one outside the tramlines, one outside a second set of tramlines, two more shanks. A great return which Pospisil nets. The usual mixed bag
