Does anyone know when the cut-off for the US Open entries is? And is Ward likely to retain his ranking for long enough to get in? I know he's got a fair few points to defend in the next couple of months.

Can we put this James Bogdanovic nonsense to rest now?
And please don't remove this post.
Jaggy Bogdanovic
JAMES WARD
He has done it now I'm safe from losing any posts here again top 100 secured. At last taking advantage of a kind draw which may be about to get better as Fognini is about to go out to Posposil. No reason why he can't make last 16 now where Nadal may wait.

I'm not sure facing Posposil rather Fognini makes it any easier really, Grass isn't exactly Fognini's best surface and while while Pospsil's Wimbledon singles success isn't any better his doubles success at Wimbledon is a million times better suggesting he is more comfortable on grass than Fognini ever would be
Excellent bit of journalism from the BBC's Chris Bevan, who happily informs us of the following:
This was only Ward's second career win against a top-50 opponent, following his win over John Isner of the United States in the Davis Cup earlier this year, but again the big occasion saw him produce his best tennis.
Clearly his run to the semis at Queens in 2011, including wins against WR14 Wawrinka and WR26 Querrey just weren't memorable enough...
They aren't the only ones, I suspect they mean in 5 set matches
I feel like I've lost a friend sadness tinged with joy
Although Fognini is no hot prospect on grass I still think mentally having an unseeded player and former challenger level comease in Posposil may suit him better.
And there was I for most of this year wishing that Mr Ward had played one more Challenger at the end of last year to get the requisite points and join the top 100, albeit in a distant land and with little fanfare. But no - his timing was impeccable. He was just waiting to get into the top 100 by beating a top-100 player in the 2nd round of Wimbledon with his family present and the eyes of the country on him. Well done, Mr Ward! So delighted for him.
