Castle had a go at me once on Twitter, can't remember why.

Anyway just got back from court 12, super Wardy into R2, what a day! VAMOSSS

The BBC needs a shake up as far too many arrogant and old presenters and pundits. Fair play to BBC they have football a shake up when complaints came in and overhauled that sport. Maybe if load of us wrote in they night do the same. Some of the radio commentators aren't that bad to be fair. I also like Sam Smith and Jamie Baker on there. One who sounds good this year is Lucy Ahl, much better than Virginia Wade

The new ATP site doesn't seem to give career high positions, or if they do they have hidden it well. I had in mind I has seen somewhere that it was 88, and a brief scroll through his rankings history confirms that - 88 in 1988.

It is directly under the Current Ranking.  Click on the player to open the details and you get

2015      Rank   Move   W/L   Titles

Career   Rank (CH)      W/L   Titles

It is in the "Overview" section of the players details.

Castle's CH ranking was 80 in June 1988 according to the ATP site.

"When Ferrer pulled out people were talking about it being an easy draw facing a lucky loser, it wasnt at all - he would have fancied playing me as well," said Ward, following a 6-7, 6-2, 6-4, 6-3 victory.

Great comment from James - yep, exactly, Vanni knew it was his lucky day - but Dino wasn't having any of that

(really dislike Castle - gazzpash has a good point - we should motivate ourselves to all write in.....)

I ll happily write in against Castle he makes me mute the telly or change match as I had to do three times yesterday. He actually asked me if I had been to a tennis match didn't have much of a reply when I told him I been to 3 out of the 4 slams just like him at singles level. Refused to acknowledge me correcting him just went in the huff said have a nice day and blocked me. Some of the people on this forum would make better pundits then this BBC old friends club who are so out of touch except from the usual handful of high profile tournaments. Nobody seemed to know who Vanni got beat off yesterday just kept saying a lucky loser. None of the experts seem to know the process or criteria for qualifying it's all very embarrassing.

Andrew Castle Sue Barker Virginia Wade John McEnroe to go please BBC. More from Sam Smith Jamie Baker Annabel Croft would be good Anne Keothavong. Tim Henman can stay and even bring in Greg Rusedski I know some don't like him but he at least has a depth of knowledge. The Eurosport team are better shame they don't have Wimbledon

I agree with the above but I quite like McEnroe's humour

No, it's not! furious  I happen not to have cable or satellite TV & have no intention of paying for it, so I would get to see no live matches, if that were the case.  The likes of "Bouncy" may be an occupational hazard with the Beeb, but I'll happily put up with them.  In any case, the AELTC won't even contemplate selling out to pay TV at the moment, thank God, because it doesn't want to limit the audience - from last Thursday's London Evening Standard (extract from an interview with Mihir Bose):

And, unlike cricket, with its live coverage now wholly on pay TV, Wimbledon has no plans to desert the BBC.

Amplifying recent remarks on this subject by Wimbledon chief executive, Richard Lewis, [Philip] Brook [the AELTC Chairman] says: We have a 90-year relationship with the BBC and it works really well. I cant see any reason why we would want to change.

When Andy Murray won in 2013, the peak audience was 17 million. Nobody else in Britain could do that and its really important to Wimbledon that we are available to the British public. People can turn on their television sets and watch Wimbledon. Many people who arent tennis fans do. Our Championships transcend the sport. Its a very strong relationship.

The relationships between organisations within sport can be tested. This week, for instance, it was claimed in a report that the ECB had put pressure on Sky not to use Kevin Pietersen as an Ashes commentator.

Wimbledon, however, has never told the BBC whom to employ. John Inverdale, who made unflattering comments about the looks of 2013 ladies champion Marion Bartoli, will no longer be doing the nightly highlights show. So did Wimbledon have words with the BBC? Their decision, says Brook, as if to suggest any interference with BBC plans would be unthinkable.

For Wimbledon, this relationship with the BBC is part of a tradition which means Brook can say the club does not have sponsors but official suppliers.

I can't stand Eurosport at all. The Federer fanboyism is incredibly cringeworthy and the thinly veiled criticisms at Murray over the years have completely turned me off them. When you throw in the complete lack of excitement and outdated, traditionalist views from the likes of Reed and Wade you get the worst tennis station by some distance. I'd even take listening to Castle and Lloyd over that, although only just.

Sky are definitely the best in the UK, although they're far from perfect. Petchey and Courier at the French on ITV (I believe) was probably my favourite team in recent times.

Was just going to say, Cowan, Shiras, Croft and the others on Sky do a great job most of the time. Offer a lot more analytical insight than the others which is what I like.

Pleased to read in today's Times that the Beeb is taking some stick over the revamped Today at Wimbledon (which Inverdale used to present), the hopelessly cringeworthy Wimbledon 2Day ( rolleyes.gif ). biggrin  Much as I like Clare Balding, she's not right for that programme, IMHO, & she looks distinctly uncomfortable.  Come back, 'Arry, all is forgiven... wink

It also continues to be broadcast an hour too early. disbelief
