That medical time out might have something to do with it - looks like he put up a good fight in the first set but it got away from him after that. Unlucky lad!
Some of these comments are madness. If a British player had lost from 2 sets up, Im sure the same people would be challenging their mental strength, fitness, work ethic etc. yet when a Brit wins from 2 sets down, its all because their opponent gave up and doesnt prove that they deserved their place in the draw?! The player who mentally stays in the match and keeps chasing the balls is the player who deserves to win, not Liams fault that that was him and his opponent faltered.
How many players would win from 2 sets down against the world number 16? Based on ranking, there are only 15 players who should be favourite to beat him full stop, so that comment is totally ridiculous.
There will only be 64 players left in the draw by the end of tomorrow, its a remarkable achievement that one of them is a WC ranked outside the top 150. This match, and Liam's resolve, should absolutely be celebrated; what do we follow British tennis for if not to see one of our own pull of a career or even life ambition of winning a match at Wimbledon? There are plenty who never will, that's for sure.
Yes - totally acknowledge what you say about Goffin, I was a bit off the mark and I get what you're saying
Yes - Liam deserved to win, had superior body language, played better when it mattered and of course you can only beat what is put in front of you and still not easy to come from two sets down. So full credit for that. Didn't realise Matosevic was out of shape as well as out of form!
But just because someone simply has a different viewpoint to someone else does not make them mad and I just think some have just gone a tad overboard, which I suppose is understandable. As you say not many in the relative scheme of things not many people win a match at Wimbledon, particularly a British player.

Indeed. The ongoing lack of tolerance from some about some other forum members' opinions ( generally these of a more critical / negative type ) is to me becoming rather tiresome.
These are discussion threads rather than simply "appreciation" threads, and thankfully we have a range of views and thoughts generally and during matches.
If some folk personally prefer to just concentrate much more on the positive that's entirely up to them, but please can some folk be a little more tolerant of others and / or debate opinions that they say disagree with.
Talking of criticism, anyone else having trouble with the Wimbledon web site? I can't get it to do anything, not even launch Slamtracker, & am having to rely on Flash Scores to keep track of results!

Surprisingly, no. The ship Internet and its 1980s-level I.T. is working rather well today. Maybe you ought to downgrade to Internet Explorer 1.0...
just to say if anyone is thinking of queuing to try and see Liam tomorrow its best to get there early, very early or even tonight. I got to the queue today at 7.00 this morning and we were all told it would be an 8 hour wait to get in !
